DESCRIPTION:
French, figural mantel clock, the winged spelter figure of Goddess of the Arts bearing a tablet in her left had with the names Pasteur [Louis - health research]], Raphael [Artist] and Gounod [composer], her right arm resting over a good French time and bell strike clock, with porcelain dial, the whole mounted to a large piece of tan variegated marble, c1890
CONDITION:
facing the statue, left wing was broken off at some time and shows a professional repair, painted to match, and only noticed on close inspection. The porcelain dial has fancy polychrome floral wreath decorations, and the right winding hole has a chip that has been painted in. The count wheel strike movement is with a suspension spring, and complete with bell and pendulum. Width = 19" Ht to wing tip = 22"
